What experience do you have with sound software and what kind?

cracking soundedit16 for the first time. i need more skills asap.

What experience do you have with programming and what kind?

http://www.5er.org, just learning FLASH and the action scripting involved with making pages interactive. basic HTML in the past.

What do you know and how interested are you in Free Culture, Open Source, and Programming?

i'm here to demystify those terms.

What kind of experience with building speakers and external sound hardware do you have?

built up a sound when i played in bands - mostly fuzzy/sustain/feedback properties (gibson through older distortion pedals and tube amplifiers).

What type of installations / performances have you done?

started with indie punk bands in san diego in the nineties. evolved into electronic music culture. 8mm loops and yarn installations at underground house parties in the early 00's.

Which aspects of audio interest you? (recording / performance / sound installations...)

developing sounds in the studio. public performance (or installation) involving new and appropriated elements.

Do you play an instrument and what is the instrument(s)?

used to play guitar then bass. now i play records.

What do you want to get out of this class?

learn some terms, define some trajectories, learn software to edit, sample and create sounds and songs. get famous.

Do you take another sound class this semester and what is its name?

No sound, but i am thinking of my "frameworks of design" class as a relevant counterpart.

What kind of music are you into? Art, pop, whatever...

70's punk, willie nelson kind of stuff, deep bleepy house, cat power when i'm crying on the inside.

What field trips would you like? (studio)

Pixar? might be able to hook something up if people are interested.
