Bio
Ellen Zweig is an artist who works with video, audio, installation and performance. Her most recent work is the video series, HEAP, a collection of experimental portraits of Westerners who have studied, invented, misunderstood and loved China. The series is currently expanding to include two installations, one at DDM Warehouse, Shanghai, April 2006 and one at the Cue Art Foundation, New York, October 2006. Her videos have screened at the New York Video Festival, 2005; Millenium Film Workshop, New York, 2005; San Francisco Art Institute Film and Video Festival, 2005; Festival Images Contre Nature, Marseilles, 2004; Athens International Film and Video Festival, Athens, Ohio, 2004; the Thailand New Media Festival, 2004; Viper Basel, 2003; International Film Festival Rotterdam, 2003. In her installations, Zweig has used optics to create camera obscuras, video projection devices, and miniature projected illusions. She has also created multi-channel video installations that have toured the US (museums include: New Mexico Museum of Fine Art in Santa Fe, List Center for the Visual Arts at MIT, Scottsdale Center for the Arts, P.S. 1 in New York).
