I want to add power of http://playfoursquare.com and other task management and tracking systems to microblogging applications. The easiest is to think of applying this to Status.Net which powers http://identi.ca.

Here is Joi Ito's JiBot which sits on Joi's IRC channel. The concept of karma allows for anyone to both increment up and down one's karma. For Identi.ca I'd like to see something like a #tag++ and/or #tag-- for karma. The time is then tracked by the post time, and then can write more about the actual task completion. Then, others can then also karma up and down a post this way.

This will allow for others to confirm or deny that a task has been completed. As long as the task is non-zero, then it has been completed. Yes, this can be gamed, but that is fine to see what happens too.

The great part is nothing is needed to do this really. Of course if interface could expose it, even better!

Example

@rejon writes:

#coldcall++ emailed @2046 out of the blue, asked about residency, he said submit, and possibly can teach!

@barrythrew writes:

@rejon: #coldcall-- we said phone calls only! That doesn't count!

@rejon can't mod up again, unless he has more mod points to give.

@rejon convinces @overlapDOTorg he is right and:

@rejon: #coldcall++ I believe you. Great work!

Extended

Also, allow for a global karma point for a user so you can do:

@rejon++ is cool.

Or,

@rejon-- you are way out of line.
