Living in China has one major drawback: the internet. Because of the Golden Shield Project, and other factors well out of one's control, the speed, latency and irregular connection resets is a massive problem. I propose to create an Internet Weather project which provides a simple graphical output of the current regional internet traffic, particularly in China, but could be explored for larger regions. There are other interesting similar projects such as Jonathan Zittrain's Herdict project which is a system that people can input internet sites that are down. This project is different in that there would be methods used to determine the current packet loss, filtered websites, and generally provide a simple analysis for anyone to use to be able and predict slowdown on certain projects during any given day. It is like weather, but for the Internet.
