山寨 (Shanzhai)

Tag things with the great chinese word, Shanzhai. This should be a magazine focusing on plans and copying. Each issue will be topical. The first issue will be about sound systems. If one takes the plans and modifies, then they should send back in to get press about their modifications.

Everything will be licensed CC BY-SA (or CC BY or released into the public domain) to insure legality, and that changes must be licensed the same way.

Print it on as cheap material as possible, like newsprint in black and white. It will have a web component as well to capture all the goodness that people are making. In some ways it is like a wiki, but published.

The look and feel are connected to seamstress patterns, blueprints, and maps in order to emphasize the legal copying and updating of designs for humanity.
