From working at Creative Commons, I've had the fortune to work on some mindblowing projects like The Open Library. This project's goal is to make the world's largest digital library, or one webpage per book. Then, in working with my colleague Rick Rinehart at the Berkeley Museum, we are creating the Open Museum. However, this is more limited to digital and electronic artwork, and their remixes.
I want to mash these ideas together to have a structured wiki where there is one webpage per artwork. This is timely for the entire art world, to serve as a market of sorts to ascertain value of works, locate criticism, and to collectively build up resources for the entire world around art.
I can't believe this doesn't exist: http://www.google.com/search?q=art%20wiki Seems the most relevant is a wiki one-off created from a book about New Media: http://www.google.com/search?q=art%20wiki The edits are few and far between.
There should be three sections to this on the main page:
- History (as in art history)
- Today (or this week), with locations mapped to dates
- Upcoming (1 month out)
